Simulation Works, But Why? How Learning Theory helps us understand and improve Simulation
As simulation educators, most of us have seen and experienced the power of simulation to change our practice. But why does it work? Several decades’ worth of cognitive and educational research has brought increased understanding and insight about how people learn, and this insight can—and should—underpin our work as simulation educators. This talk explores how learning theory can help us better understand what happens in simulated learning environments, and helps us explain why they can have such power for our learners. By
building our work as simulation educators on sound underlying theoretical justifications, we can more fully harness the power of simulation as a teaching tool.
